Astana's Alberto Contador says he could take a while to decide which team to race for next year.

Two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador revealed on Thursday that he is yet to choose which team he will ride for next season but is likely to remain with his current outfit Astana.

"I'm in the process of evaluating the Astana team, with whom I still have a year left on my contract, as well as other teams that have been interested in me for a long time, like Garmin, Quick Step and Caisse d'Epargne," the Spaniard said.

Contador added that his legal advisers are studying the conditions for the termination of his contract with Astana, who last week failed the test to acquire a Pro Tour licence issued by the International Cycling Union (UCI).

"My advisers are still looking into it," said Contador, who won the Tour de France in 2007 and 2009 and both the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana in 2008.

"The procedure could be very long, lasting more than a month, and I don't want to find myself in December not knowing what I'm going to do in the future. But the new Astana is taking shape, with professional directors."

Contador added that his choice of team will be shaped by his desire to compete in the 2010 Tour de France, which Astana are not currently authorised to do.

The Kazakh team have until November 20 to improve their application and qualify for a licence.
