Libby Trickett (L) and Leisel Jones
Libby Trickett (L) is pondering her future in swimming while Leisel Jones will compete in Moscow.

Libby Trickett is still agonising over her future in the pool as fellow golden girl Leisel Jones dips back into international competition for the first time in 15 months on Friday.

Trickett hopes to make a decision by next month as fellow triple Olympic gold medallist Jones makes her return in the two-day World Cup meet in Moscow starting on Friday.

It will be a first overseas outing for Jones since she claimed double gold at last year's Beijing Olympics.

The triple Olympian, who skipped this year's Rome world championships, has continued training during her time out of competition and has a heavy schedule of five meets in the next four weeks.

But her former training partner Trickett is finding it harder going getting back in the pool full-time.

The sprinter opted to take a break from the sport following this year's worlds.

With the trials for next year's Delhi Commonwealth Games coming up in Sydney in March, Trickett knows decision time is fast approaching.

"I sort of felt that around December should be the decision time," she told AAP.

"In the same breath, I don't want to rush it and if I am still not 100 per cent sure I will try and take things one step at a time and making sure I am making the right decision."

Trickett was speaking at the launch of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame's inaugural captains' forum to be held later this month in Canberra.

She said she was keeping fit and swimming once a week.

"I do and I don't (miss the sport)," she said.

"I am really enjoying having different opportunities but I do get in the water once a week to go for a swim. I just love it and I love being fit.

"It is not like I have been training, I think people speculate that I have been training but I do get in the water at least once a week because I find it very relaxing."

On her chances of competing in Delhi, she said: "I can't even give you a percentage to be honest, one day it is one decision and the next day it is the other.

"I think I am just going through that phase and I just really want to give myself time and I think that is the most important thing because you don't want to make a decision and regret it.

"But at the same time if I do decide to retire I have no qualms that in six months' time that if I really miss it to come back."
