The lightly-raced and very talented Hussenor is ready to tackle a couple of new challenges on Saturday.
Injuries have restricted the five-year-old to just 10 starts but his problems look a thing of the past and trainer Matthew Smith has the horse firing and poised to land consecutive wins.
Hussenor will race at Randwick for the first time on Saturday and also has his first crack at 1400 metres, and Smith expects the gelding to relish both.
The Hussonet gelding is coming off a 1-3/4 length win over Gangitano at Canterbury over 1200 metres on October 21.
Hussenor led early before Gangitano took the lead in the final 400 metres.
But Smith's galloper showed a brilliant turn of foot and powered home to defeat the highly-regarded Chris Waller-trained Encosta De Lago four-year-old.
Gangitano subsequently scored a slashing 1-3/4 length win over Dealers in a 1200-metre race at Rosehill last Saturday.
"He (Hussenor) was very strong on the line and I think the bigger track will suit him and he should be able to handle the trip with no dramas either," Smith said.
"He's a horse who has had so many little problems with his joints and things but he's in top shape at the moment.
"This looks a nice race for him, he's well weighted (53kg) and he's trained on well."
The Warwick Farm trainer said Hussenor was showing signs he could get further than 1400 metres later on.
"He's a pretty sharp horse and I'm not sure how far he'll get and he's also a bit of a lazy horse at home and is hard to get a good line on," Smith said.
"But going on the way he finished off last time he might get further but we'll just get this one out of the way first."
Two kilogram-claiming apprentice Tommy Berry reunites with Hussenor after they combined successfully last start but their mission has been made tougher after drawing the widest barrier, 12, in the Star City Handicap.
Hussenor, who has won three times and been placed on four occasions, was spelled for 33 weeks after beating Ourbillydakid over 1100 metres at Rosehill in December last year.
He returned with a long head second to Patronyme at Canterbury in August with his last-start win coming at his fourth run this preparation.
