Country apprentice Timothy Bell repaid the faith leading trainer Peter Snowden showed in him when he guided Beaded to a thrilling victory in the Listed Yalumba Cup at Hawkesbury.
Beaded was wide for most of Thursday's race after jumping from an outside alley but still managed to power home to defeat Group winner Youthful Jack by a length with Hotel Casino a long neck third in the 1300-metre $100,000 race.
Bell, who is just 16, was thrilled to win for Snowden.
"I've had three rides for Mr Snowden and two winners. I rode Latigo for him on the final day of the season last season and that win put him in front in the trainers' premiership until Mrs Waterhouse won a couple of races," Bell said.
"I was very pleased when Darley rang me up and asked me to ride this mare."
Bell, who is based in Tamworth where he is indentured to trainer Sue Grills, says he is in no hurry to move to Sydney.
"I'm still very immature and have so much to learn about racing," Bell said.
"I'm very fortunate to have somebody like Mr Snowden giving me these opportunities and I'll do my best to make the most of them when they arise."
Darley Australia's racing manager Trevor Lobb was full of praise for both horse and jockey.
"He's a very mature young rider who has a terrific attitude and plenty of ability," Lobb said.
"Timothy's only had a couple of rides for us and he's done a great job every time.
"And what an effort from this mare to step up against some nice horses and do what she did."
Beaded's win gave her three successive wins after scoring twice at Rosehill last month and took her record to six wins and two placings from eight starts.
